My Approach

Person-Centered, Non-Clinical, Trauma Informed Expressive Arts

Together we will practise:

  • Using arts as a safe outlet for emotions
  • Using arts for meaning making and self-reflection
  • Relating compassionately to your body and emotions
  • Greater awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and patterns
  • Being present with yourself and your current reality
  • Exploring humour, playfulness and ease through arts
  • Becoming comfortable with uncertainty and letting a process unfold
  • Connection through shared creation

To keep our work safe and clear, here is what my work does not include:

Crisis intervention, clinical diagnoses, substitutes for psychotherapy, psychiatry, or other medical treatment, managing or treating acute mental health crises (e.g., suicidal thoughts, self-harm, panic attacks.)

My Approach

I create spaces for you to take a pause to be with yourself, without pressure to perform or change.

This is an art studio to explore your inner world using all your senses. The goal is not to “fix” or “heal” you, but to support you in witnessing and fully experiencing your own life. I do this by joining you in your world and going on creative adventures with you as you uncover new experiences and perspectives through play.

You are the expert on your life—I accompany you, nurturing your self-trust and inner wisdom rather than providing ready-made answers. My role is to support your exploration by offering gentle prompts and helping you stay connected to what arises without judgment.

In our sessions, we will explore your inner world with compassion and honesty. Compassion helps us witness ourselves without shame, acknowledging the influence of socio-political context and trauma. Honesty helps us to recognise our own role in what we are experiencing, without burdening ourselves with expectations of perfection.

This witnessing, or awareness, is a key life skill that supports self-understanding and personal growth. We will practise this awareness together, using art, until you are able to continue on your own.

This process can bring joy and peace, but it may also stir up discomfort, which is a natural and meaningful part of growing self-awareness. We will move through discomfort by giving it gentle, creative attention at a pace that feels right for you.

Trauma

Although I do not offer clinical interventions or treatment for trauma directly, I am trained in trauma informed care. This means that I am aware of trauma’s impact on people – from personal histories (such as loss, abuse, illness, disability, disasters, etc) as well as systemic causes related to societal discrimination (such as racism, sexism, casteism, classism, ableism, homophobia, etc).

My approach prioritises safety, trust, choice, and collaboration. I take care to adapt sessions so that clients can avoid re-traumatization while they explore self-awareness through the arts.
